Magical winery weddings overlooking the vineyards at Adamo Estate Winery in Hockley Valley
What could be more idyllic than a wedding at Adamo Estate Winery with the vineyard, rolling hills and rows of vines as a backdrop?
“We’ve seen a strong rise in couples gravitating toward outdoor weddings, especially within the natural beauty of our vineyard,” said Shannon Smith, marketing director of Adamo Estate Winery and Hockley Valley Resort. “Many are seeking a more personal, organic experience that feels connected to nature. The vineyard provides a serene, romantic setting that reflects the shift toward more intimate, meaningful celebrations.”
Adamo Estate winery can comfortably accommodate up to 100 guests for outdoor ceremonies.
“The winery is a photographer’s dream,” adds Smith. “This is a working vineyard, however, couples are permitted to explore the vineyard and surrounding grounds for photo opportunities. From romantic walks between the vines to golden-hour portraits overlooking the valley, the natural beauty of our property offers countless magical backdrops.”

Cocktail receptions can be held on the outdoor upper patio during the warmer weather with a sit-down dinner served in the Great Room with its unique ‘Nanawall’.
“The Nanawall is one of our most loved features,” said Smith. “It’s a folding glass wall that opens completely to our vineyard allowing for a beautiful blend of indoor comfort and outdoor ambiance. When closed, it offers an unobstructed view of the vineyard, and when opened, it creates a fluid, airy atmosphere—perfect for summer evenings without the worry of unpredictable weather.”
The property’s farm-to-table philosophy is a natural extension to the vineyard experience with the freshest ingredients sourced with 100 kilometres of the winery. It’s a celebration of seasonality and sustainability that enhances the authenticity and flavour of every dish, beautifully paired with estate wines.
The Cellar is ideal for hosting smaller weddings. Situated on the main level, it features warm wood finishes, rustic wine barrels and a cozy, welcoming ambiance for a uniquely immersive and memorable celebration.
Adamo Estate Winery is an all-in-one experience thanks to the luxurious accommodation provided just minutes away at their sister property Hockley Valley Resort. Here guests can enjoy spa services, golf, skiing and more.
A historic mill and millpond set the stage for weddings at Alton Mill Arts Centre
The Alton Mills Arts Centre is a perfect setting for a wedding with a backdrop of a historic mill, waterfall and a three-acre pond.
From mid May to the end of October, Alton Mill Arts Centre erects a huge event tent on the lawn that’s custom built to sit on top of the mill’s stone wall. Ceremonies can be held outdoors on the lawn with photos by the pond, waterfalls or forest. Receptions are often held in the event tent. Cocktail receptions can also be held on the outdoor courtyard and then move indoors to the adjacent Millrace Room, an ideal space for up to 140 people.
If weather is an issue, indoor ceremonies for up to 100 people are welcomed in the Pond Gallery where guests can admire the latest art exhibits.
“We are unique in that you can use some of the galleries for weddings as we offer functions without barriers,” said Sarah Sansom, special events/marketing manager of the Alton Mill Arts Centre. “Alton Mill is an incredibly unique space for weddings because we are not at all a typical wedding venue. We are an original mill from 1881 which was lovingly restored. We are an arts and culture centre at our core, so we are huge fans of creativity and offer couples an opportunity to create an experience for themselves and their guests that’s specifically curated to them. We also have the benefit of having artists on site and some couples have come up with unique ways to incorporate this into their event, whether it be a private class with their wedding party or live art happening during their reception.”
Although Alton Mill does not offer catering for weddings, they do provide a list of preferred caterers on their website, along with other wedding companies including florists, photographers, rental companies, DJ’s and more.

“We are 100 per cent about the guest experience,” said Sansom. “Guests have access to art while enjoying that connection to nature, history and culture.”
Sansom is also a wedding planner (and owner of Day by Design) as well as a wedding officiant who can officiate weddings at Alton Mill and elsewhere.
Weddings in nature at Credit Valley Conservation’s Island Lake, Belfountain and Terra Cotta
Credit Valley Conservation’s Island Lake in Orangeville has an arched Waterfront Amphitheatre with a stage that sits in the water allowing the bridal couple, wedding party and their guests to sit on the platform surrounded by water.
The amphitheatre is just one of many unique spots to get married at Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) parks which include Island Lake in Orangeville, Belfountain in Caledon and Terra Cotta in Halton Hills. Weddings can be booked from May to October ranging in size up to 200 people, depending on the park.
“Weddings at Credit Valley Parks can be more affordable than other locations and the parks offer a beautiful scenic natural backdrop,” said Sandy Camplin, senior coordinator, conservation parks. “We have unique areas on the water, in the forest and amid the Niagara Escarpment gorge.”
Wedding ceremonies and receptions can be held at Terra Cotta.
“Most ceremonies are held at the Amphitheatre that has seating for 200 and is located under the hardwood forest canopy,” said Camplin. “Receptions are usually hosted in the Wetland Pavilion and can be hosted until 11 p.m. Ceremonies of up to 100 people can be hosted at Belfountain at the rock terrace overlooking the river gorge and close to the ‘belle’ fountain and waterfall. Receptions are not available here due to space limitations.”
CVC can provide couples with a list of preferred vendors for catering, bar service and more. The parks offer several unique add-ons for purchase such as giant games, maple taffy sampling, bonfire with S ’mores, maple syrup favours and a lemonade stand.
“Most couples choose to bring in their own décor, but as part of our wedding packages we offer a natural birch bark arbour and various sized tree trunk pillars that can be used on their own or as a display,” said Camplin. “Our packages also include a reserved area for the outdoor ceremony or reception, an engagement and wedding photography permit, an annual Credit Valley Parks Pass and more.”
The parks offer several photo opportunities from waterfront photos and a covered bridge at Island Lake, to the river gorge and fountain at Belfountain and the hardwood forest, a scenic bridge and wetlands at Terra Cotta.
Only one wedding per day is booked at each park. Weddings are booked up to May 1 of each year for the same year, but couples can book now for weddings or large gatherings for 2025.
